Remote control and remote control receiver upgrade

New Remote Control and Receiver for Wood Heaters

5 min read
We're always striving to improve the user experience and bring the latest in innovative home heating solutions. Over the past year, we’ve been hard at work developing an upgraded remote control and receiver for our wood heaters equipped with a remote-controlled fan. These improvements bring enhanced functionality and ease of use for our customers.

What's New?

  • AAA Batteries for the Remote Control
The new remote control now uses AAA batteries, a more widely available and easily replaceable power source. This change is designed for convenience and safety.
  • Upgraded Receiver with Pairing Functionality
The receiver has undergone a major upgrade. It now features pairing functionality that allows for a more seamless connection between the remote and the heater. The receiver’s range has also been boosted, ensuring improved performance for controlling the fan from a distance.
  • Visual Changes for Easy Identification
The new remote control is slightly larger than its predecessor and features a revised logo for easy identification. The remote control receiver is now housed in a sleek black casing with an “AAA” marking. This will help differentiate the new version from the old button battery remote control and its red casing.

Backward Compatibility: No Need to Worry About Replacements

One of the most benefical features of this upgrade is its backward compatibility. If you currently own a wood heater with a button battery-powered remote control and receiver, you can easily switch to the new system without any hassle. Here’s how:

  • Plug and Play Installation:
The new AAA-powered remote control is fully compatible with the old red-cased receiver. So, if you’re replacing your remote control, you can use the new model with your existing receiver.
  • New Receiver with Old Remote:
Likewise, if you need to replace your receiver, you can upgrade to the new black-cased, AAA-marked receiver while still using your old button battery-powered remote control.

Important Note on Pairing Functionality:

While the new system offers incredible flexibility, it’s important to note that the pairing functionality is only available if you upgrade to the new black-cased receiver. The pairing feature is built into the receiver itself, not the remote control. So, to enjoy the full benefits of pairing and improved range, you’ll need to ensure that both your receiver and remote control are updated to the latest models.

Why Upgrade?

These upgrades aren't just about visual changes—they bring real improvements in performance and usability. With the upgraded remote control and receiver, you’ll experience:

  • Better Range: Enjoy more flexibility and ease of control from a distance, thanks to the improved range of the new system.
  • Enhanced Pairing Functionality: The pairing feature offers greater reliability and responsiveness, making it easier to control your wood heater’s fan.
  • Convenience and Ease of Use: With AAA batteries in the remote control and plug-and-play compatibility, these upgrades make operation simpler than ever before.

How to Pair

  1. Turn off power to heater.
  2. Turn the power on - heater will enter pairing mode for 7 seconds.
  3. Once in pairing mode - hold the cancel timer button on your remote until a long beep is heard.
  4. Pairing is now complete.

Note:

  • Pairing will be maintained when power to heater is turned off (e.g during a power outage).
  • If required, pairing can be overwritten at any time by following the pairing steps with a new remote control and/or remote control receiver.
  • In certain circumstances (e.g. more than one wood heater in close proximity) it may be required to exclusively pair your remote control to your heater. This will prevent unintentional fan operation from other remote controls.
